Chester Education Foundation Programs
CEF operates this year-round youth program to promote academic skill-
building and work-readiness training. Sponsored by the Delaware County
Office of Employment and Training, the School-to-Career (STC) program
employs 100 10th, 11th and 12th grade students during the summer months
through internships, job-shadowing, community service and paid training
and tutoring sessions.
During the school year, participants work with the CEF Job Developer to
acquire and retain part-time work. STC students also attend CEF’s daily
tutoring sessions in through CEF's 21st Century Community Learning Center
after-school programming at Chester High School and participate in various
enrichment activities.
This year, CEF is introducing the Pennsylvania CareerLink endorsed
WorkKeys certification program along with the KeyTrain Career Ready 101
online remediation program to our high school students. This will allow
students to explore career options and identify individual strengths and
weakness in the categories of applied mathematics, reading for information
and locating information. When students build their skill-sets to the
appropriate level they will take the WorkKeys Assessment. The attainment of
a WorkKeys Work-Readiness Certification, an ACT credential, will increase
their attractiveness to potential employers.
